It is so easy to render even a very small bedroom into an exceptional space. Color is one way to do this. Combining colors with a special theme is even more effective.

The thing is to look for a theme that is of interest to you and then combine it with appropriate colors. An example could be a collection of old clock faces, all different in their forms but all connected through their black and white dials. These can be found at your local flea markets.

Such a collection would make a great wall decoration, especially if you arrange them together so that their different shapes and style become apparent. Such a collage would immediately give the room impact and interest.

You could then add a symbolic meaning to the collection, associating the clocks with some special phrase or quotation. Clocks could remind us to take some restful time, set time apart for contemplation, add more happy moments to life. There are so many attractive quotations around time, that it would be easy to find ones that have a special and personal meaning.

Continue with the black and white rhythm found in the clocks and apply it to textiles and accessories. However, keep the black limited to accents, with white remaining dominant. This would result in a repetition of the balance of black and white as seen on the face clocks and create a sense of unity within the room. Then add small accents of bright, spring green in a balanced way throughout the small room. Green is the color of nature and is indirectly connected to time. This reminds us of the four seasons that are repetitive and everlasting. The dash of color also energizes the black and white neutrals.

This is a great way of not only creating an attractive decor, but also adding symbolism which could have a very special meaning to you, working positively on your subconscious mind. This idea can be interpreted in many ways, according to your special interest. The idea is to margin it down to one special theme and then add colors that enhance it. The small bedroom will gain an allure of exclusivity, that certainly will not cost as much as the impressive, stylish flair that has been realized.

Small bedrooms must not be boring. Color is excellent for creating an interesting and very attractive space without overwhelming the limited area of a small bedroom. It is, however, important to limit the colors but use them in different variations throughout the room design.

It is very easy to create a superb small bedroom by concentrating on one pair of complementary colors. Complementary colors consist of two hues that are opposite each other on the color wheel. An example would be blue and orange, which, incidentally, are also excellent for a bedroom. Blue enlarges space and orange adds cheerful highlights.

In order to ensure that these complementary colors work well together, it is important to remember that blue has a tendency to recede. This is the reason it makes rooms appear larger. Orange projects itself forward. In order to balance the colors, so that orange does not overwhelm the blue and make it almost disappear, it is a advisable to use only one third the amount of orange to two thirds of blue for a color arrangement.

Both blue and orange have lovely lighter shades, which are actually much better for decorating a small bedroom. Orange has great shades of apricot and warm beige tones which look excellent combined with all nuances of blue. These are not as overwhelming as the fully saturated orange and can be used more liberally in combination with blue.

For the small bedroom, it would be advisable to use blue for the walls because it opens up space, making rooms appear larger. Orange could be included as an accent in its full saturation to create sparkle, or its lighter shades, beige and apricot, could be added more liberally to emanate elegance. There are many textiles available, such as bed linen and curtains, which include both blue and orange in their pattern design. Artists love this color combination and have created great pictures using only orange and blue. Therefore, it is easy to apply this color scheme throughout the room.

There are various complementary pairs, such as green and red, purple and spring green or violet and yellow, which can be applied in the same way as the example of blue and orange. The advantage of staying within complementary combination of two colors, is that you can create a much stronger impact for a small bedroom or any other living space. This is an easy and affordable way to add character and style to a living space.
