Your bedroom is your sanctuary from the world, a place where you can escape the rest of the world and retreat into your own private space. Why not make your bedroom into an exotic getaway? A Moroccan inspired bedroom might just be the answer. Follow these steps to create your own exotic hideaway.

Step 1: Wall Color. For this you need to Say goodbye to those white walls! The paint colors for this design are a vivid mix of bright jewel tones and rich earth tones. Select a deep jewel tone for the walls and a deep warm tone for the trim and door. This is a far step away from what we have been taught about wall colors but. If you neglect this or don't do it, you should expect to have a bedroom theme that looks incomplete.

Step 2: Furniture. The furniture used in Moroccan designs can be an eclectic mix. The furniture is usually darker in tone, but even light colored furniture can be transformed by just a quick coat of paint or stain.

Step 3: Bedding. The bed linens used in this theme are usually very luxurious. Think about velvet and satin-like materials in solid colors and layer it on. Use many pillows in many shapes and sizes, add a solid throw in a lush material, and perhaps even a canopy in another rich color. The object is to bring in numerous colors; it is that vivid mix that is the hallmark of Moroccan designs.

Step 4: Window Treatments. The window treatments used for this theme should be long and flowing. Rich jewel toned sheer curtains under velvet or satin-like drapes. For added drama add an edging of fringe to the drapes in the color of the sheers and use tassel tie backs in the same color.

Step 5: Decorative Accessories. A significant point to keep in mind here is variety. Moroccan style is based in carved wood decor, metal wall decor, candle lanterns, pottery and vases, and bright rugs. Keep placing accents a little at a time until you are pleased with the overall effect and appearance.

Now that you have created your Moroccan inspired bedroom, sit back and enjoy the benefits of your hard work. It's like taking a vacation without ever leaving the house!
