When it is time to retire for the evening, rest comes much easier in a relaxing room with a soft, beautiful decor. The seascape bedroom will provide comfort, sound and the illusion of rocking waves that gently puts a person into a deep slumber. It takes so little to create the beauty of the sea shore in the bedroom of your choice.

First, remove everything from the room and decide on wall and floor colors. The floor should be a very light color. White with just a hint of blue or brown will give the feeling of sand and surf. Use tiles, a good floor paint, light color wood or even a very light color, light weight carpet to cover the floor. As the décor begins to take shape add throw rugs to the floor space for added color.

The walls will be perfect in a very light blue with one main wall in a bright sea blue color. Paint the ceiling the same light blue as the walls. Use a sponge dabbed in light blue paint and white paint to create soft clouds about three to five feet apart on the ceiling. Do not make the white to prominent. The white is just to create a hint of clouds in the sky.

Trim with white along windows and around doors. Your room is ready to add furniture and seascape décor. There are several themes to choose, but for this article it will use the old sea shore vacation cabin style. Most of the color theme will be blue and white with touches of other colors.

The bed set needs to have a wooden headboard. It will be placed against the darker blue wall. Use a long, low dresser with drawers three on each side. Distress the wood on the bed and dresser with light pounding from a chain and a few cuts from screwdrivers. Do not destroy the wood, just leave impressions.

Paint both white with light streaks of blues. Add night stands on each side of the bed painted in the same style. Cover the bed with a blue and white quilt. Use pillow shams to match the quilt. Add four smaller pillows for decoration. Two in bright red and two in dark blue. The bed is done.

Hang one seascape picture on the wall along the side of the bed. Group fishing net and shells on each side. Above the bed hang a brass bell and brass candle holders. Use blue candles in the holders for a romantic effect. This is the basic seascape bedroom décor.

Add small effects and finds over the next several months to suit your taste. Use white gauzy curtains, lace curtains or white shutters for privacy. Flowers, shells of all sizes, swimsuit and sun hats will all add to the personal style of your own seascape bedroom.
