Bedroom themes really allow you to incorporate a cohesive look into your space even if you aren't an interior designer. It's easy to go overboard with this kind of design. This is why it's so important to choose an age and gender appropriate theme, while you're decorating with the furniture you already have in your bedroom. There are a lot of different design directions that you can go in. Almost any theme can end up looking modern, country, elegant, shabby chic, cottage, or even Tuscan depending on how you style the rest of the room. This gives you a lot of leeway to really make your own personal stamp on your space while working within a larger theme.

One thing that you really want to take into consideration is the architectural details that you already have in your room. For instance if you have wood beams on the ceiling this can feel rustic or Southwest. If you have ornate moldings around the windows then you might want to go for more of an elegant theme like a French look. This will really compliment the architectural details of your home. Plus it allows you to just work with what you are ready have but still tie everything together. This can be the jumping off point and you won't have to scrounge around for a lot of inspiration. You might already have the pieces that you need in your room.

Find new ways to create a theme room. This is really important because you want your space to be livable instead of just being very predictable. These kind rooms can easily seem cluttered. Instead, it's really important to find pieces that work within your budget, as well as your lifestyle for a totally one-of-a-kind look even if you aren't using a one-of-a-kind theme. For instance, you might want to go with a country look. This can be quite predictable. You could just try decorating with quilts. There are several different options for this. Of course you could just mix it up. This is can be so important because it allows you to bring in a lot of brighter colors as well as patterns. When you mix and match them into that patchwork kind of style it becomes pretty country.

You can also just use a very classic theme in a more unexpected way. Continuing on with the country theme, if you just had a plain white comforter you could bring the country element onto your artwork. You could get several canvases and paint each one with a different block of color and pattern. You can hang them up close together so they can almost mimic a quilt on the wall but it will be a lot more modern and makes things that more unexpected. Often times these kind of accessories can be very predictable and even cheesy. You can combat this just by making your own. This also allows you to get a very unique color palette in your space.
